FamilySearch Digital Library book reader improvement: Add Translate option for Text
FamilySearch Digital Library book reader improvement: Add Translate option for Text.
Recently I was looking at a book in the Dutch language which was actually a Family Search digitised microfilm. I don't read (or speak) Dutch.
Firstly I was wishing it was on the FamilySearch Digital Library so I could use the Text option to copy and paste and put into Google Translate or similar.
Then I thought a helpful additional feature for the FamilySearch Digital Library would be to have a built in option where the Text could be translated.
FamilySearch has people viewing from all over the world and currently there is an option at the foot of the webpage to select various language options. However, even if a specific language option is selected, it does not alter the Text option in the FamilySearch Digital Library Book reader. I changed the FS website language to German, and then looked at an English language book in the FS Digital Library, and then selected the Text option. The language still appeared as English.
This is why I am suggesting a Translate option within the FamilySearch Digital Library book reader. It is obviously thought desirable to have language options available for the FS website, so it seems logically to extend the option to the Text option in the book reader.
