WHOA?!?! URL shortner Bitly made a "familysearch.me" direct-link for scanned microfilm image on FS
Experimenting just now, I anticipated the usual bit.ly/xxxx shortened URL format (which is free) for this doozie of a URL:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RX4-CC4?i=30&wc=QZJ5-LX1%3A1036472001%2C1039282301%2C1039305201%2C1589333092&cc=1488411
...but instead I got this: https://familysearch.me/3wK6iIM
WOW!
I'm now curious how that familysearch.me "vanity" short URL came into being. Anyone know?
FWIW, the concept I have contemplated recently, is to append a shortened URL (i.e. via Bitly) to self-drafted source citations (using Evidence Explained layering method, though this is irrelevant). i.e. after my cation is finished, something like this: (direct link: https://familysearch.me/3wK6iIM).
Love thoughts from others. Thanks!

Hello Ryan,
Both links go to the same place. Does that matter?

The above seems like a lot of work when in FamilySearch.org a URL is sufficient, when you use the New Source template, the Evidence Explained can be inserted into the new Source. If I understand it. Not sure about that answering your comment though. :)
You could post this comment in FamilySearch Tips and Tricks. They possibly could help.
Or go to "Feedback" at the bottom of the page and post your question/comment there.
