Hi @georgedill
If you haven't been already, I'm going to direct you to the Germany Genealogy Research Group. They can help you better there.
To get help, you're going to want to give more information. What are the FamilySearch ID's of these people? What other information do you have on them? Even a scrap of information can be helpful.
Is this (Dessau 1) (meyersgaz.org)) the place Leopold was born? Or could it be Raguhn (Raguhn (meyersgaz.org)), which is located in Dessau Kreis (kreis is similar to county)?
Also, what religion was Leopold (Catholic or Protestant)? This is very important to know since information from this time period can primarily be found in church records. Based on the location (the one that I linked above), my guess would be Protestant, but it's possible that Leopold could have been Catholic.
The more information, the better.
Best of luck!

I am not understanding the way to use this web site. I have asked a basic question two times and so far I still have no answers that help me on my way of finding the answer myself or seeing someone else who knows where to look and steers me to that answer. Also, in the first answer, they asked the question whether Leopold Hoffmann was Catholic or protestant. He was protestant and his wife Elisabeth Door (both "o"s" have umlauts) was Catholic.
How does a newcomer to this site use it to find information about their ancestors? Can someone please show me by using the above names as an example?

@georgedill the above articles were found by clicking on the circle with the question mark and going to "Help Center" and then "Search". There are more articles there that explain how to use the FamilySearch tools to help find your ancestors. You can also click on the FamilySearch green icon in the upper left corner and go to the person you are researching and from there go to "Search".
Also, for this site, Community, joining the group: Germany Genealogy Research Group, would be a great group where others could possibly help you.
Go to this link and it may help you to get more professional help: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/where-can-i-get-help-with-my-genealogy
Best of luck in your search.
