Change back to originial layout
Hello,
The layout that appears when you click on sources now as completely changed for me and I really dislike it. I was very used to the old layout and I found it pretty functional and easy to use, I only started using this website this year but found little to no issues with it. If there were small changes that needed to be made that were really championed by lots of users, then I wish only those small changes had been made while keeping the base of the old general layout. To be honest, I have rarely experienced a layout change on a website that helped or improved anything, it always seems to be with the intention of trying to look 'different' and not much else. In any case, I am always of the opinion that when a layout changes there should be an option to allow users to revert back to the old layout if that is what they prefer and are used to. This new layout has a lot going on at once with colors and spaces between all the words and different fonts and sizes for everything, which is way less accessible and very distracting. The design elements are getting in the way of me actually looking at the information. I am afraid that the rest of the website is going to change and look similar to this in every aspect of the search which would be very dissapointing. I often feel in this day and age it seems like companies that provide a service are more interested in change and making sure they look cool and 'modern' than actually asking the customer what they want and making sure the most people possible are being served by necessary changes, not frivolous things that just ruin the user experience. I had previously been raving about how great and accessible this website is, but I can't see myself recommending it to ppl in the future if I'm not even enjoying the use of it.
So I am wondering if there is a way to switch back to the original layout. If a button could be provided that would allow my account to stay set in the typical previewing experience of sources, that would be extremely preferable. Otherwise, I don't really see myself using this site this much if it'll be expected to make continous frivolous changes like this without even a way for me to not have to adhere to these changes.
(and as a note, in case I sound curmudgeonly, I am currently in my early 20s, so if I, an individual raised in internet culture and computer use throughout my life don't like or appreciate this change, I wouldn't be surprised if many older people who surely use this site liked it even less)
Thank you

I dislike it, too. I am very disappointed. It seems we are trying to mimic Ancestry.com.

The changes are HORRIBLE! Sadly, I won't be working on family history if you're going to make it obnoxious. Change it back. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the layout. The new stuff is a big FAIL. I hope you hear us loud and clear.

Even the menu bar to the left of this box is not a style or color that complements the site we are happy enough with. I don't know who you are consulting with in making these changes. Not cool. Looks like somebody's homework assignment, not a professionally created site now. bye.

I also agree that I do not like the new format when following links. The old way was good, quick and easy to follow. Seeing indexed Census records was much easier in the old format. Also you could click on each person for further information and then go back to the census and click on the next person. The new way causes extra clicks when selecting the back arrow to go back to the previous pages. Getting fancy with the display of information is not always the right way to go.

I liked it better the old way.

I dislike the changes too. Unfortunately, Familysearch has been migrating elements of their easy to use User Interface to poorly designed interfaces. In all cases they seem harder to use and less efficient for identifying information. I don't think the designers actually use FS and they don't seem to test with actual users...
