2 people merged as one

In my tree there is a person who has at least one other person merged with him of the same name. I know this because he can't be living in multiple states with multiple families on the same census. Is there a way to un-merge them without deleting the other person's info? Clearly the other person is a real person and I don't want to delete the other guy but I don't want his records mixed with my guy. Is there a simple fix for this? Thanks!

The quick fix is to click on Latest Changes on the right on his person page.

Look at everything there remembering to click the small blue "more" on the bottom left every time it appears until you get to the very first (2012 when familysearch was brought over and created from new.familysearch.org) A small percentage came into Family Tree already combined. Once you think you have a feel who your individual was in 2012 and who he was married to--then you can begin separating out the individual(s) who are not the first individual.

Start by using control-F to find the word merge. Restore those deleted individuals who were not the first individual.

A good video to watch is called "How to Repair Incorrect Merges in Family Tree - Kathryn Grant" on the BYU Family History Library YouTube Channel
