uploading tree
I am brand new at this, so I hope my question is understandable. I have a large tree, over 4,000 names. It is done in Reunion 13. An expert suggested that I put my tree on-line. I have not done so for two reasons - I don't know how to do that, and I'm told that once the tree is on-line anybody can change it. Would anybody care to comment on my concerns? Thank you. (I am not good at navigating the internet.)

FamilySearch is a world tree so anybody can change it. However, you will get Hints and collaboration from other family members. The changes can be very frustrating so be sure to keep your Reunion copy so you can fix things, but hopefully changes will be well documented and add to your knowledge of your family.
That said, it seems FamilySearch has come out with a way to upload your GEDCOM in an area where people can't change it. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-upload-my-gedcom-file

chances are most of the people in yoru GEDCOM are already in FamilySearch.
Loading a GEDCOM would merely generate thousands of duplicates - which we surely dont want.
there are ways as Deborah pointd to - but you still have to go record by record - so as to know whether that person already exists in FamilySearch.
tell us more about your ancestors. - like I said - probably an extremely high percent are already in the system - you just need to make the "connections"
.
