Maiden names

If the maiden name is recorded as two names that both seem like given names "Anna Marie" should I record the second name or leave it blank?

    It's safe to leave Anna Marie as both given names. I would recommend keeping it that way unless you can find evidence that it is indeed a surname. Hope this helps :)
