If a 6-digit file number is 001475, do I index the 2 zeros at the beginning?
Instructions say to index the 6-digit number, but they also say to not index proceeding zeros. Are these zeros in my example considered "proceeding zeros" that we aren't supposed to index or are they part of the 6-digit file number that we are supposed to index?
This is the project/batch I'm reviewing: US, Wisconsin—Death Records, 1959–1978 [Part A][M3M1-G8N]
(I'm feeling badly, because I haven't even thought about this and I've already reviewed several batches and have been deleting zeros that people index.)

No, you do not need to put the preceding zeros. The field help says the number was USUALLY six digits not always. You are correct to delete preceding zeros.
