I am working on US—City and Business Directories, 1749–1990 [Part B]

[MSLK-MJX] batch and would like to know if it lists the first name and last name of a woman and then states she was, "widow/ed," and then lists only the first name of the husband should I type in the same last name of the woman for the man in the "spouses surname" box? Thank you.

My understanding is that no, you do not enter the last name of the husband unless it is written out.

Regarding the small E - you don't record it. It is a symbol for something.

I am working on US- City and Business Directories 1749-1990 [Part B] [MSPJ-KKQ] . The names on the page begin with "E", but sumtimes there is a small E before the surname. Example (small capital E) then the surname Evans. I have been ignoring it when indexing the surname because it is not on every entry, however, it is there often enough that I have started to wonder what it means and should I include it in the entry. 🤔

As regarding my comment above, posted a couple of minutes ago: The page continues to last names beginning with F and the small E is still there, occasionally, in front of some of the surnames. Do you know what this means? I don't know how I would record it. 🤔
