1) How to index multiple births recorded in one record? 2) Death notices in margins of birth records
I am working on a batch of Brazilian birth records and I have two questions based on what I came across:
1) How do I index multiple births?: I came across one birth record that lists twins under one certificate #, and another with 11 children registered under one certificate #. I did an entry for each child using the same certificate #, since they were all included under that #, but I want to be sure, I am doing this right before submitting the batch. Please advise. I did not find this in any instructions.
2) What if anything do you do with death information written in the margins of birth records?: In the same batch of birth records, I found a few notes in the margin indicating when the person died. I know there is no where to indicate this on the birth record, but should it be recorded somewhere or is it assumed that will be listed under death records?
This is the batch I am working with:
Brasil, Minas Gerais—Registro Civil, 1879–1949 [Parte B][MS8C-WQK]
Thank you!

You were correct to index each child's birth as a separate entry. If there is information recorded about a death this would receive an additional entry with "Obito" indexed for the entry type.

As stated in project instructions:
"Sometimes corrections or amendments were made in the margins of a document. Be sure to check for corrections or amendments, and index the corrections in the appropriate fields."
