Add information/status badges to the profile (religion, nationality, immigration)
I have seen a lot of people using the person profile image to add information related to nationality, religion and so on.
My suggestion is to add the ability to add icons as status badges just below person name with this information in order to avoid people to use the portrait in the wrong way and to easy people to figure out more quickly about the person life.

FYI
.
This EXISTED previously ... but, was recently WITHDRAWN
.
I do not know if you are aware or not; but ...
.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' PREVIOUSLY did have "Badges", which later became "Labels", for individuals/persons.
.
Very similar to what you suggest/propose ...
.
ORIGINALLY, the "Badges", related to Members of the Church, in regard to the various aspect of Church History.
.
LATER, those "Badges", became "Labels", which was EXPANDED beyond just that of Members of the Church, to MANY aspect of Life, in general.
.
UNFORTUNATELY ...
.
Last year (i think), 'FamilySearch' in its 'wisdom', REMOVED (ie. "Deleted"/"Withdrew") ALL "Labels", for WHATEVER reason ...
WE were NEVER, specifically, informed; as to, WHY this was done to "Labels" ...
.
MANY Users/Patrons (ESPECIALLY, Members of the Church), were BITTERLY "Disappointed", with the REMOVAL (ie. "Deletion"/"Withdrawal") of "Labels".
.
Just letting you know.
.
Lets, HOPE; and, PRAY, in its wisdom, that 'FamilySearch' RECONSIDERS the reason(s) for the REMOVAL (ie. "Deletion"/"Withdrawal") of "Labels" (or, aka: "Badges"); and, REINSTATES, "Labels" (or, aka: "Badges"), ASAP.
.
Great suggestion/proposal.
.
You certainly have my "Vote" of "Approval".

Brett,
I kind of remember the labels, but they were located in the lateral bar and we were not able to use it, right?
I do believe it would be of great help to have this standard badges (religion, nationality, immigrant, pioneer, and so on) on the top just near the name.
But the main reason is to avoid people to add diverse "cliparts" as portrait just to show nationality with flags, or religion symbols in a community tree without any standard...

'Yes', that was those "Labels" ...
.
I remember them 'fondly'; especially, their 'forerunner', the "Badges" ...
.
But, I was NOT so impressed with the "Change", from "Badges", to "Labels"; and, the subsequent EXPANSION of the "Labels", to beyond that of the Church (History).
.
I am a CONVERT to the Church, of MANY Years; whereas, my Wife was born into the Church; but, we are both from "Downunder" ...
.
NOT so long ago, we found out, that we had MANY "Early" Mormon Pioneers, in our extensive "Ancestral" lines ...
.
Hence, WHY we LOVED the EARLY version of the "Badges" ...
.
FYI
.
I think that ONE of the MAJOR "Reasons" that the "Labels" were REMOVED (ie. "Deleted"/"Withdrawn") was BECAUSE the, 'Content'; and, 'Context', BECAME too DIVISIVE - eg. A 'War Hero' to one (User/Patron), was (to put it nicely, lets say) a 'Villain' to another (User/Patron) ... [ ie. BEING the SAME individual/person ].
.
Just thinking out aloud here ...
.
It is possible, that the version of the "Badges", that you propose, MAY encounter the SAME effect ...
.
User/Patrons WANT a "Portrait" (or, maybe, in this age of "Social Media", an "Avatar") REGARDLESS of whatever else may be there ...
.
Now ...
That said ...
In relation to you last comment ...
.
I, TOTALLY, wholeheartedly, agree ...
.
I wish Users/Patrons would NOT put 'Clip Art' "images" (eg. Flags, National Symbols, Coats of Arms, ETC; Etc; etc) as "Portraits" for individuals/persons.
.
Personally, I wish 'FamilySearch' would 'Discourage' such, in fact, not allow such ...
.
But ...
That said ...
.
I hate to say it ...
.
But, I would suggest that, even NOW, "Badges"; and/or, "Labels"; even, in the FORMAT that you propose, would NOT "Discourage" the use of 'Clip Art' "images" (eg. Flags, National Symbols, Coats of Arms, ETC; Etc; etc) as "Portraits" of individuals/persons - User/Patrons will DO what they WANT, regardless ...
.
They DID NOT in the PAST; and, in fact, I am certain, that they would NOT in the FUTURE ...
.
But, certainly worth ANOTHER 'Try' ...
.
Just my thoughts ...

Hi Brett, I totally agree.
And I hope FamilySearch will do something in the future to discourage (or even not allow) the use of 'Clip Art' images as "Portraits" of individuals.

Pedro,
Unfortunately, the image structure used for the portraits is basically the same as for clip art, so the ability for the software to determine whether a portrait was a picture or clips art would probably be nearly impossible.
This could really only be defined as a policy, and in general, non-critical policies are almost never enforced by FS (or rather, they never are established as formal policies meaning that they don't have to be enforced).

Thanks for all your feedback regarding this issue.
Unfortunately, day after day I see more and more people here in Brazil adding flags as portrait images for their ancestors, just to show that they originated from Italy, Portugal, Spain and so. You can imagine how it is going to end up in the future...
Maybe you guys are not finding yet this behavior in the USA but it is a nightmare. I delete any of these images, but people keep adding them. Many people treat the ancestors as their own, forgetting it is a collaborative tree. I do hope FamilySearch can find a solution. Moderators among the experienced users would be a great help to block some editions as Wikipedia does...

Just wondering: What's wrong with using some type of symbol for the portrait for people for whom no photograph exists? The flags are certainly more colorful that the default blue and pink generic images and do convey something basic - the birthplace - regarding the individual that can be seen in an instant. I've never added these, but certainly see no need to forbid or remove them.
