I have ancestors with last name of Hemminger and Heinminger. Not a lot of the latter which is clearly documented in Illinois and Wisconsin region 1800’s. Appears that Hemminger is from Switzerland documents although there are no images for me to verify.

can anyone help me with this change in spelling

As I follow family records I often see name changes - Marlow/Marlowe, Suero/Severo, Chiariello/Carl/Carr, Fonzo/Fonce, Maferro/Murphy. Some are caused by the person recording the record, some a family member just liked so they started using it, and others are Americanizations of names from the Old Country. Don't get hung up on spelling and just record the alternates under Other Information.
