Use the FamilySearch catalog to find your town. The town I research has deaths and marriages up to 1929 and birth records to 1910. Other towns stop at 1865 or have nothing at all. Because of privacy issues, you will need to contact the town for more modern records. They usually charge a small fee. Another website to check is http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/?lang=en

I comuni Italiani stanno faticosamente digitalizzando - guarda nel progetto SAN

Which comune? Some have records available through the 1940s on Antenati or FamilySearch. But you likely won't find any birth records after 1910 or marriage or death records after 1945 due to privacy laws. If you can't find what you are looking for online your only choice is to contact the comune directly (or hire a researcher in Italy to work on your behalf).
