If the family member is not married, can you delete spouse box?

    NO

    because - what if at some point they do marry

    or what if they were deceased - and you thought they never married

    but then you found out they were married

     

    you should always the option to add a spouse . . .

    Actually, it is more of a "Couple Relationship" box as it can also represent unwed couples, common law couples, and some other situations. Having two names in the box doesn't mean that they were married, but having only one name in the box means that there was never a "Couple Relationship" of any type (at least as of the current knowledge when the box was edited).

     

    The box is a "parentage" type of relationship for the family that can include parents that are not only biological, but also step parents, adoptive parents, or even guardians, etc..
