For starters ...
.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' ALREADY does identify Possible "Duplicates" for individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
IF, "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' identifies Possible "Duplicates" for an individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; THEN, such WILL be FIRSTLY identified on the 'right-hand-side' of an individual's/person's "Person/Details" page/screen, under the TOP Section, being "Research Help"; and, also, SECONDLY, on the 'right-hand-side' of an individual's/person's "Person/Details" page/screen, also under the FOURTH Section down (ie. SECOND from the bottom), being "Tools"; and, the FIRST part of that section, being "Possible Duplicates".
.
Of course, the aforementioned is NOT perfect ...
.
It is very EASY for the "System" to MISS Possible "Duplicates" ...
[ As, of course, NO "System", is perfect. ]
.
There are various reasons WHY the "System" does not identify a Possible "Duplicate".
.
But, that said, suffice to say, that "System", has a mechanism; and, usually, does identify a Possible "Duplicates".
.
Now ...
That said ...
.
Failing the the aforementioned ...
.
ALSO on the 'right-hand-side' of an individual's/person's "Person/Details" page/screen, ALSO under the FOURTH Section down (ie. SECOND from the bottom), being "Tools"; and, the SECOND part of that section, there is an option to "Find Similar People", this is also a great way to find similar people that the aforementioned, may have missed for some reason.
.
Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':
.
How do I search Family Tree to find possible duplicates?
.
How do I find duplicates in Family Tree if they do not appear in the possible duplicates list?
.
I hope this helps.

Please be just as ready to reject suggestions of possible duplicates as to accept them. Some users are happy to accept any suggestions placed on their relatives' pages and go ahead in merging totally unrelated individuals. The algorithm used by FamilySearch in determining a "possible duplicate" is far from perfect and has led to many of my relatives being merged with someone else, just because they shared the same name. So, when you are presented with these suggestions, please take great care in comparing the data attached to each individual. If you have any doubts about their identities matching, just click on "Not a Match".
