Can you confirm a couple of facts about Family Search:
1 It's my understanding, from Brett's comment (see below*) that my collaborators can only add or change data on deceased relatives.
Is that correct?
2 It's my understanding, from one of Dennis's videos, that my living family members will not be able to see information on my Family Tree concerning other, living family members.
*"Basically, you and Family members have to "Build" a "Bridge" of the "Living" individuals/persons that connect/link you together, in your respective 'FamilySearch' Accounts ..."

1) any FS user can update any info on any record for a deceased person.
There is no "ownership" of records or trees - it one single collaborative database.
2) living persons can only be seen on the account they are entered in. Yes that is true.
yes - each account owners - builds a bridge to the deceased persons.
FS is mainly meant for holding information and sharing information for DECEASED persons.

The person who enters information about living people is the only one who can see them. However, each of your family members can create entries for the same living people so that you'll all connect to your deceased ancestors. Once you are working with deceased individuals, anyone in the world can contribute information.

For the purposes of, research; and, collaboration, between Family members, simply ensure that each Family members is a "Register" User/Patron of 'FamilySearch', with their OWN 'FamilySearch' Account.
.
As you and your Family members are ALL "Living" Users/Patrons, of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', even IMMEDIATE Family members ...
.
You; and, your Family members, WILL have to "Added" SEPERATELY (and, 'Yes'; as, DUPLICATES) the ALL "Living" individuals/persons (ie. Parents; Sibling; Aunts; Uncles; Cousins, etc) that connect/link you together, in your respective 'FamilySearch' Accounts ...
.
Basically, you and Family members have to "Build" a "Bridge" of the "Living" individuals/persons that connect/link you together, in your respective 'FamilySearch' Accounts ...
.
Once, you have built that bridge of the "Living"; then, when you come to your FIRST Common "Deceased" Ancestor, your "Ancestral" lines will connect/link together into one ...
.
Then, you are all, basically, "Sharing", your research, with each other.
.
All you may need to do is "Swap", between yourselves, the "Details" of the "Living" individuals/persons that connect/link you together ...
.
And, any "Memories" thereof ...
.
So that, you ensure the "Details" of the "Living" individuals/persons that connect/link you together are, correct; and, synchronised, between you all.
.
I hope this helps.

Thank you, Brett and Dennis. This is all very helpful!

one clarification though - - even if family members dont "build the bridge"
they can still find the family tree - by soemoen sharing a URL or doing a find.
but the bridge is so that you will see the family on deafult pedigree view.
