having an additional family tree?

I am a family history consultant trying to help one of my Church members. He has a large group of family members that he is not quite sure where they fit into his family tree yet. He wants to work on them but does not to add them into his established tree that he has right now. Is there a way that he can set up a second tree and them merge them later. Or is a better way of doing this?

This is one world tree so he wouldn't be setting up a second tree but adding the family members to the database. First, he should see if the individuals are already in the system or if he can connect them to an existing line. If not, at the top of the page there is a menu Overview-Tree-Person-Recents-Find-Following-My Contributions Click on Recents, at the bottom there is a Add Unconnected Person

Be sure to include sources for the individuals.

He can add each person as an unconnected person and then write down the PID so he can go back to them later if needed. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-add-an-unconnected-person-to-family-tree
