How does one DELETE a RESPONSE / REPLY That one makes to a discussion that someone else initiated?

(after they make the REPLY they change their mind and want to DELETE it)

Currently, we do not have a way to allow you to delete posts without giving the ability to delete everything. You do have the ability to edit your posts. Please note that if it is truly needed, you can ask an administrator to delete the post for you.

Looks like it is an all or nothing situation where normal users do not have the ability to delete, and if you can delete (because you have that rank) then you can delete other comments too.

@Dennis J Yancey We originally had this option, but there was a security problem where with it turned on the user could delete anything. We are working with the vendor to narrow it down.

Hmmm. I wonder if the ability to re-edit the post and then remove all of the text would be a suitable work-around for now?
