Tool to find cousin marriages in family tree
I'm imagining a tool that would search a family tree for married couples who were also cousins. I've long known that my grandfather's brother FA was married to his first cousin EJ. I've more recently discovered that FA's mother's sister AK was also married to a first cousin WH and that AK and WH's son JH married his first cousin EH. And then there are the parents of EJ who were second cousins...
I have a feeling there are more to be discovered as these families were very large through the generations.
Maybe there is already a technique for doing this, but I can't think of it.

Well, a good night's sleep has helped. The obvious thing to do to check if a couple are related is to use the relationship calculator in your family tree program (I use RootsMagic). I had always assumed that the obvious relationship "they are married to each other" would be the result. But no, it is only blood relationships that are calculated so it does tell me for my FA-EJ couple mentioned in my original post that they are first cousins and who their common ancestors are.
Now, if only one could create a macro to work through all the couples in the database and check them for relatedness.

Of course, the further you look back in generations, the more likely you are to find a cousinship for any random couple.

Yes, that's true Adrian. But also, the further back the common ancestors the more likely it is you have double entered them in your database.
