Search Field Within Source Box
I see others have requested a search field within the Source Box, and the requests I read were made in 2019 and previously in 2017. I’m writing again in the hopes that something can be added to help find sources that are housed in that box.
Some of the previous responses suggested that this box was a temporary holding place. I was not aware of this idea. When attaching a source I don’t un-check, or de-select, “Add to Source Box”. Should I be doing so if it’s a source that comes directly from Family Search, so that my Source Box does not contain so many entries?

GREAT Suggestion ...
And, a long overdue enhancement ...
.
But ...
As you are aware ...
You are NOT alone ...
.
Unfortunately ...
.
The original premise of the "Source Box" was as a TEMPORARY 'Holding' place for "Sources"; before, they were "Attached".
.
As far as I am aware, 'FamilySearch', STILL prescribes to that original premise of a TEMPORARY 'Holding' place for "Sources"; before, they were "Attached".
.
Many Users/Patrons also still prescribes to that original premise of a TEMPORARY 'Holding' place for "Sources"; before, they were "Attached".
.
But ...
That said ...
.
There are also (now) MANY Users/Patrons (myself being one of them) whose workflow, is that the "Source Box" is a PERMANENT 'Holding' place for "Sources"; BOTH, before; and, after, they are "Attached".
.
I have almost 28,500 "Sources", in my "Source Box".
.
And, I have gone back and 'visited' quite a number of them, over the years, for various reasons - and, it is a real 'pain' to "Find" them in the many 'Pages' of my "Source Box".
.
There are "Pros" and "Cons", on both sides, of whether, the "Source Box" is, either, a TEMPOARY; or, a PERMANENT, "Holding" Place for "Sources".
.
Lets NOT go there ...
.
As an aside ...
.
You have to be aware that there are many competing priorities in "Family Tree" (not to mention the Other Parts) of 'FamilySearch'; and, there are limited resources available to 'FamilySearch'.
.
And, as such, as the "Source Box" is most likely NOT used by the MAJORITY of Users/Patrons, any suggested enhancements to the "Source Box" would, unfortunately, be "Very" (in fact, "Extremely") LOW on the "List" of the many competing priorities in 'FamilySearch'.
.
I have seen NO significate enhancement, to the "Source Box", since its inception; except, the "Removal" of the ability to "Print" the 'List' of "Sources" in my "Source Box" (that was originally there; but, was subsequently, taken away, for whatever reason ...)
.
Believe me ...
As you may already be aware, from you searches ...
I am one of those, who is 'hanging out', for enhancements to the "Source Box".
.
But ...
I have just learned to, just live in hope ...
.
As, it may NEVER happen.
.
Again, GREAT Suggestion ...
.
And, I am certain that 'FamilySearch' is 'listening'; but, is just 'hamstrung' due to limited resources.
.
Just my thoughts.

This just illustrates how differently users utilise the features within Family Tree. Brett has well over 20,000 sources in his Source Box and I have 212 - and was surprised to find I have that many!
I'm one of those who am generally happy to use the feature as a temporary home - i.e. once attached to the relevant IDs, I see no reason to leave them there. However, I don't believe in saying, "That's not the way you should be using this or that part of Family Tree". We should all feel comfortable in adapting its features to suit our needs, as long as this does not cause confusion or problems to other participants in this collaborative project.
So, sure, as with the Messages section, the engineers should look into ways of helping us get directly to the particular item for which we are searching, rather than have to scroll and scroll through so many items.
