When an new, empty album is created under Gallery, in the middle of the empty album page there appears a graphic plus these instructions: "Start Collecting Memories -- Click on the green plus to add memories to this album, or drag and drop memories into the album." The words "to this album" and "into this album" are misleading. They suggest an album can be directly populated by uploading/dragging files directly into any album. This is not possible, however. Files must first be added to one's Gallery and THEN added into desired albums.

In other words, populating albums is a two-step process, but the empty album instructions suggest a one-step operation. This really should be clarified.

Better yet, go ahead and improve the system by building the capability to upload Memory files directly into an open album, as the existing instructions suggest!

I swear it used to work that way. So apparently there is a new bug here.

For example, I created a new album at https://www.familysearch.org/photos/gallery/album/768746

and tried to upload 3 .JPG files - all I got was a circling dial forever. After a refresh, it goes back to empty, but my main "Memories" folder at the top shows those 3 files appearing there, but not in the album.

This does appear to be a system bug. I also experienced the spinning upload icon using iOS Safari 14.2 on iPad Pro.

The same 3 photos uploaded almost immediately into the new empty album on the same device using the Memories app.

it normally does work that way (normally adding directly to the album)

there is currently a BUG that is preventing this in some cases

    FS Engineers are already aware.
