Limit record search to date ranges entered
I often go searching for records and the returns are wildly out of the date range that I entered. Maybe I'm missing something? If I am searching for records for John Doe and enter a birth location and date range of 1820 to 1840, the results come back with people that are far out of the date range. For example, some of the results are often more than a century out of the range. Even if I check the "Exact" checkbox for Birth, it seems to have no effect.

On the GetSatisfaction site, someone from FS tried to explain this and other "it's ignoring my inputs" behaviors of the search. My understanding is that our inputs are not treated as filters, despite what the existence of "exact" options implies; instead, they merely serve to *sort* the results, according to some arcane heirarchy. If a record exists that matches everything you input, it'll be at the top of the results, but if no such record happens to exist, then the thing at the top of the list will fail to match at least one of your inputs. The further down the list you go, the further off everything can get.

When you encounter on of these please copy the URL at the top of the search results page and include that in your comment. It will allow the QA engineers to reproduce your exact situation

I understand the concept of trying to match based on some sort of sorting algorithm, but if I specify "exact" in my search criteria, that's what I should get, not 10,000 seemingly randomly sorted results.
