Printing Cards after Ordinances Completed

I am not able to print out a card after all of the ordinances are completed now that some temples are shredding cards. I sent a case to FamilySearch and they want it to be sent here since this is a software problem.

There are hundreds of thousands of people who keep cards to track the ordinance work of ancestors. When the work is completed unless you print out a card before the last ordinance you cannot print it out again for your records. FamilySearch suggests printing out a Family Group Record but that is not acceptable since the paper will not fit in the box of cards especially with hundreds even thousands of cards. These cards are critical! Many members keep the cards and shredding the cards will continue to cause sadness and consternation.

I would recommend an option be added to the Print tab under the individual's ordinances. There are two options already, Print Family Name Cards and Print an FOR. Please add another option, Print for Record. This is an easy fix. Thank you.

This would be so helpful to so many temple patrons. If the cards are shred at the temple, this is the least that could be done so that someone could save the cards.

I think a better location would be under the Print icon shown on My Reservations under Temple Reservations.

Excellent idea. This would be helpful.

I think it would be a great option for people to have a way to still print cards after ordinances are completed for their own records.

Cards of ordinances completed can prompt you on additional work that needs to be done.

    .

When the "Temples" in the Utah Valley trialed the NON-RETURN of the "Cards", a while after, we WERE advised that there WAS provision that, the "Cards", after the particular "Ordinances", were "Completed", COULD be requested to be "Retuned" to the Patron, after PROCESSING (x2), upon request, provided that such request was made BEFORE the Work was undertaken.

    .

I believe that, despite the aforementioned provision, SOME "Temples" REFUSED to "Return" the "Cards" regardless.

    .

I was just wondering if the provision STILL existed to for the "Cards", after the particular "Ordinances", were "Completed", COULD be requested to be "Retuned" to the Patron, after PROCESSING (x2), upon request, provided that such request was made BEFORE the Work was undertaken.

    .

    And ...

    If so ...

    .

Is it the case, that SOME "Temples" are still REFUSING to "Return" the "Cards" regardless.

I agree Ron. This would allow many patrons to keep track of their work based on their needs. Really simple fix I’d imagine.

For me this would be redundancy, but I can still see how it would help others that have been keeping the cards as a way to record what has been done. Just because I do not do it this way, doesn't mean that others can't benefit from it.

I have found an alternative to keeping the cards. The temple system sends a message to my FS account when an ordinance is completed. Don't delete those messages. They contain the person's name and ID. The person's name and family can be accessed, and looked at for further ordinance work. I considered keeping the cards, and for awhile I did that. But, the idea of keeping thousands of cards when those same people can be so easily accessed seemed a whole lot simplier and quicker.

    .

    FYI

    .

Many of us, are ALREADY, aware, that we receive, "Notifications", when "Temple" Work is "Completed".

    .

'Yes', those "Notifications" appear in; and, currently, remain in, the "Temple" 'Tab', for "Notifications".

And, are currently NOT, "Deleted"; or, "Removed"; EECEPT, by the User/Patron.

    .

    That said ...

    .

The REAL concern is WHAT happens, when "FamilySearch' DECIDES decides that, the SPACE/ROOM (on the "Server") taken by; especially, those OLD ("Temple") "Notifications", is NEED; and, then, just starts to, "Deleted"; or, "Removed", the OLDER ("Temple") "Notifications" ... GONE ... Never to be resurrected.

    .

DO NOT kid yourself ... it, CAN; and, I am certain, WILL, happen ... sooner rather than later.

    .

I know COUNTLESS Members of the Church, who have "Shoe Boxes" absolutely FULL of "Temple" Cards that are "Completed".

    .

We WANT the RIGHT to RETAIN/KEEP them ... the non-return of the "Temple" Cards; as, "Ordinances" are "Completed", DENIES us that RIGHT.

    .

The justification, that has been used, for the non-return of the "Temple" Cards; as, "Ordinances" are "Completed", is simply NOT good enough or acceptable.

    .

    That justification being:

    (1) Many the "Temple" Cards with are "Completed" Work, were NOT being "Collected".

eg. "Temples" in the 'Utah Valley', ONLY 6% of Cards were being "Collected ...

That is fine for the "Temples" in the 'Utah Valley'; but, about the rest of the WORLD!!!???

    (2) The "Temple" Cards with are "Completed" Work are used for SECONDARY Processing

ie. To ensure the Work was, in fact, recorded.

That is UNNECESSARY; as, NOW that we get "Notifications", we can be on top of that.

    .

    Simple ...

    .

Just RETURN the "Temple" Cards as "Ordinances" are "Completed" ... DO NOT retain them ... DO NOT shred them ...

    .

    And ...

    .

To MANY of us, those (Physical) "Temple" Cards with are "Completed" Work, MEANS a GREAT DEAL ...

Whereas, the (Electronic) "Notifications", of the "Completed" Work, means very little ... Oh, its done ... BUT, I cannot 'see' it ...

    .

That is WAHT is NOT being UNDERSTOOD ...

    .

    Brett and others,

After reading through these comments a few times, I wondered it if would work for those people who want to keep the cards, for them to print the name card twice for the final ordinance, keep one card, and then write in the date & place themselves on that card when the ordinance is done? Perhaps paperclip the 2 cards together until the Temple visit happens.

I had not considered the possibility of the notifications being deleted at some point.

You can how view and print a list of completed ordinances from your Temple tab.

On the website, click Temple then Completed.

In the app, tab the Temple icon, then scroll the lists over to the new Completed option. You'll need to update the app on your device to get this.

You may also want to note that the temple notifications have been simplified to direct you to the new completed ordinances list.
