Indexing tracking
I really enjoy seeing my contribution tracked on the line graph that shows how many indexes I have submitted. Some indexes can be done very quickly, (indexing a directory can yield 200 entries in an hour), while others can take a very long time, (indexing marriage certificates can yield 3 in an hour). I find myself looking for "easier" indexes so I can watch the line graph grow. I'd like to focus more on how much time I spend indexing next year versus the quantity of indexes I submit. Is it possible to have a chart that tracks how much time we spend indexing as well? As the brethren have said, with the temples closed right now, family history and indexing is the closest thing we can do to be in the temple right now. If a session is approximately 2 hours, and say I have the goal of going to the temple once a week, I'd like to spend 8 hours a month indexing. I'm sure I can keep a log of my time somewhere, but it would be nice to see it when I log into family search.

I am not trying to be facetious or flippant ...
.
But, for the life of me, I DO NOT understand WHY so many Users/Patrons are so hung-up on "Statistics" - Wanting to know HOW many Records they have "Indexed".
.
The World may be run on "Statistic" ...
But, Genealogy /Family History should NOT be GOVERNED by "Statistics" ...
.
I would MUCH prefer that "Indexers" take their TIME, with what they are "Indexing"; and, get the transcripts right/correct.
.
Too many Records have Indexing/Transcription Errors ...
.
Many (but, certainly not all) of those Indexing/Transcription Errors, I am certain are caused by "Indexers" just WANTING to get as MANY Records Indexed as possible.
.
I would much prefer, QUALITY, over Quantity ...
.
I would also refer that there were NO "Statistics" as to HOW many Records one has "Indexed" - that way "Indexer" could focus on, QUALITY, over Quantity.
.
I am NOT implying that the MAJORITY of "Indexers" do not take due care; attention; and, diligence, far from it; but, with the many Indexing/Transcription Errors, I do wonder how many are focused on getting as MANY records as possible "Indexed", rather than the QUALITY of their "Indexing".
.
Genealogy / Family History is NOT a "Sprint" ...
Genealogy / Family History is a "Marathon" ...
.
The Church, not so long ago, REMOVED the "Statistics" of individual "Indexers" from the Monthly Report for Branches/Wards/Stakes/Districts - among other things to STOP "Competition"; and, "Promote" QUALITY, rather than Quantity.
.
Again, I am not trying to be facetious or flippant.
.
I do not (did not) mean to offend ... and, apologise if I have ...
.
This is something that has been previously discussed and debated in, the OLD 'FamilySearch' ("GetSatisfaction") 'Feedback' Forum; and, in various "Comments" in 'FamilySearch' "Blog" Articles.
.
These are just my thoughts ...
.
Just my 2c worth ...
.
I mean no disrespect ...
.
It is certainly a CONCERN that I have had, for many years.
.
Take it with 'a grain of salt' ...

Brett, I think that ryanjayminer1's suggestion could be quite valid. Although most of everything you pointed out is valid (especially the parts about competing), I would like to also suggest that statistics can be a positive experience even when NO competition is involved.
How many matriarchs out there who have been crocheting a huge quilt love to just stop every hour or so to admire how much that they have accomplished so far (Or, for that matter, how much that they've accomplished without making any mistakes)? In cases like these, statistics on what you have accomplished is a tool that folks can use to enhance their satisfaction regarding their contributions.
So yes, statistics for comparing with others is probably a bad idea, but statistics for measuring your own personal accomplishments would seem to be very useful for different things.
