I received a notification that there is a new record for

M5KH-DT8 Johanna Maria Francisca van Doormalen

Curious; I click "View All Records"; the next pop-up shows the record has already been attached. I go to this persons page and see the last source was attached in June-2018

Why did I receive this notification when there is NO new record?

Yea, it's not a NEW record, they just got around to finding it (2 years after you did!)

I see this all the time. That's why I've turned off as many of those promotional programs as possible. Most of them do silly things like that.

yes very irritating to say the least! but i don't want to turn off the notification just in case a new person turns up.

I just got a note about the discoveries FS had found. I looked through all eight and every one had already been attached to a record -- by me. I wonder why they send these notices.

    V.Reed,

I suspect that it is because you have shown interest in that record in the past. The person record that the hint is to be applied to will have your name all over the Change History log entries showing you're interest in it. In fact one of those entries in the Change history is likely where you previously attached the source earlier

    :-)

When I read posts like this it confirms that declining to receive these notifications is the best option to avoid such irritations. With such limited resources it seems sad FamilySearch chooses to devote time to sending out notifications that are of so little help. In fact, if a "new person turns up" (as Carola puts it) they are probably as likely to be related to you as not.

(I just noted this is a post originally raised some time ago, but this just confirms FamilySearch is still doing nothing to remedy the problem.)
