Keep name of those entering data not standardizing dates.

I have been doing a lot of standardizing dates and place names and whenever I do I note that I am then listed as the "Last Changed by" person. I understand that I did make the last change but if someone asks me where that data came from I will be at a loss. Seems that that name should be the name of the contributor of the actual data.

Any thoughts?

    I do the same ...

    .

    But ...

    That said ...

    .

I always ADD a "Reason Statement" (ie. Reason This Information Is Correct) which includes WHAT the previous, 'Date'; and/or, 'Place', actual was (ie. before); and, THAT I am simply accessing the Record to "Standardise" the, 'Date'; and/or, 'Place'; plus, WHO made and WHEN was (ie. the "Details" of User/Patrons and Date) the previous / last detail, that I am changing.

    .

    Just my thoughts.

ps: It is in the "ChangeLog"; but, I prefer to include that with my "Change".

pps: Hey; but, that is just me ... each to their own.

The Standard Place Name that has been formally assigned to the Entered (Displayed) Place name is just as much "actual data" as the Displayed name. When you change EITHER of them it needs to be tracked in the Change History. The change that you made to the association of a standard place name and the entered display name *IS* a formal change.

The fact is that I have seen where others have gone in a changed the standard place name to a different one that is NOT appropriate. I want to see those changes when they happen and I want to see them in both the Change History logs as well as my "Following List" recent changes.

FS uses a dual name system and both parts of it are very important.
