Speed of Response to typing in Ideas forum
How on earth does this forum process text that I enter before presenting it on screen? Right now, I am typing and everything is appearing immediately. Earlier today, I could type, type and type and nothing would appear until - whoosh - the last sentence or two magically appeared. It was almost as if everything that I typed went from my keyboard across the Atlantic to SLC and then back before appearing on the screen.
I have no idea, of course, whether the improvement on this thread will persist or if I did anything to assist .
Any explanation gratefully accepted! :-(
PS - if nonsensical similar ideas are linked to this thread - well, I gave up trying to remove them...

Adrian, I am trying to duplicate your issue and have not been able to do so in the production system. We discussed this issue this morning and we were wondering if the problem might be tied to your internet speed. If you have something consistent that duplicates the problem, please share with us and we will work on it further. Also we have done a little refinement on the similar issues. Hopefully, that makes your life easier.

Mark - thanks for thinking about it. Right now, everything is fine - not the slightest indication of a delay, so I have nothing to direct you at.
It's all rather curious - right now it's as if the letters are appearing as I type, going straight from my keyboard to the screen - as I'd expect. But yesterday was the most extreme example of a delay - like I said, as if the typing were going via a server "somewhere on the Internet" before appearing on my screen.
Yesterday, I can't say that I noticed any delay anywhere else, but that's hardly a scientific investigation :-(
I'll let you know if I find anything annoying or useful in this respect again...

I have just run into this again and it seems repeatable, at least on my machine Running Safari 12 and macOS Sierra.
From MyFeed in the Communities, go to the Ideas page and start typing into the Search box (i.e., the one on the top right of the window and not the OTHER one just above the topics list). when it starts slowing down, I have a Process named “https://community.familysearch.org” that goes nuts with a CPU usageg of up to 104% this normally sits under 40% when you are typing and the system is NOT slowed down.
If you hit the search button or move around in the Idea area, the slowdown may stop and it starts working again properly. But I tried then going over to “My Feed” and the delay started again when trying to enter something in the search box.
If I type a bunch of characters quickly and then watch them slowly appear, that https process jumps up and stays at 100% to 104% continuously until it catches up with all the letters I typed. If I try deleting several letters quickly, the same thing happens.
If I type a few things in and hit the search button (little magnifying glass), the search results come up but if I then try typing in the search box again, the delay is gone! I can’t get the process to run more than 35% CPU time. However, if I use the top menu to jump to My Feed or Ideas, the slowdown starts up again.
I’m attaching a snapshot for that process (#26456). This was run on Safari 12.1.2 and macOS 10.12.6 Sierra 5 Oct 2020 at 11:50 am CDT
