Dismiss names from Recommended Tasks

Gordon Collett said: This is already possible both on the web and app versions.
In the web version, open the hint and then click "Ignore."
In the task list, the hint will now look like this:
The next time your task list is regenerated, which may not be for a day, it should be gone for good. This has no effect on what other people see on their tasks lists or on the appearance of the hint on the individual's Family Tree Page.
In the app, just swipe left on the line to have this appear:
Click on Remove and the hint will immediately disappear from your task list.0 -
RR said: Well don't I feel foolish now. I see it now! That pale little arrow, I never even noticed there's a whole drop-down menu there. My old eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be.
Thanks so much for pointing it out to me.0 -
Matthias Schulz said: I think the problem is, that you can't see, that a person has only ignored tasks, until you click on it , so that all the tasks of this person will be shown as ignored.
Here you see persons with tasks, but you don'tsee, that Emil Brecht has only one ignored task, as you can see in the next image.

This IGNORE is not permanent! The records just reappear again!! Would love to have a permanent way to get them out of the way!!

Are they coming back with the same hints? Or do they stay ignored until new hints appear in case you want to work on the new hints? It may take some work to document which is happening, but it is an important difference. You would have to carefully record what is showing for hints, not just the title of the hint, ignore them, then when they appear again check the hints now present and see if any of the URL for the hint sources are the same or if they are all new ones.
The first would be a bug, the second a feature.

The title of this thread describes my issue. I spend considerable time sorting out some family connections that are quite remote or not at all related to me, when there are are ambiguities that can lead to incorrect attachments. It is my hope that this also assists other users. However there are some people who appear in my Hints in whom I have no special interest. They usually have multiple records, and having to select each record and click on "Ignore" is tiresome. Currently I am faced with hints for more than ten people, who may or not be duplicates, named Thomas Dudman, and each one I have so far clicked on has more than ten record hints. It almost resembles a "denial of service" attack! I would like to request a system modification so that at least it is possible to ignore all records for an individual person, in a single keystroke. Or, as in the case of Thomas Dudman, specify the name for which hints will no longer be listed. A further useful feature would be a way to specify the distance from the user's tree beyond which the user does not wish to receive hints.
