Can we volunteer to translate the FamilySearch interface?

Some of them have less speakers than my own language. I wonder if I could collaborate to translate FS main interface to another one.

Catalan language is also one of the languages used in MyHeritage, so it would help to make FS attractive to current MH Catalan users: https://faq.myheritage.com/en/article...

Some of the languages supported by FS have less speakers than Catalan, like Albanian, Bulgarian, Danish, Finnish, Mongolian, Norwegian, Samoan, Slovak, Swedish and Tongan.

But one of the problems that motivated me to write is the community moaning about the point that standardization in Catalan language is not possible. Catalan speakers are using the interface manly in Spanish, English and French, I am the the person in charge of FS Places and I have to add names of places if these languages if they exist. So people are sad because FS suggest the names of the places they are living in English, Spanish and French, but not in their own language (frequently the only official name of the place).

So, is you change your mind and you want to add Catalan language, you know where to find me.

A van Helsdingen said: It's not the number of speakers that FS is concerned about, but the number of genealogists who speak that language. Genealogy is more popular in certain areas than others.

And remember also that FS is affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who have a lot of members in the Pacific, which is why they put a higher priority of Tongan, Samoan etc than Catalan.

Bosch said: Just for curiosity. I've been contacted spontaneously by MyHeritage staff. They were looking for voluntaries to help them to translate more parts of their website and program to Catalan language. I'm sure that that can make that some users use MyHeritage instead of FamilySearch.
