The essential problem is that whichever way round you do it, it becomes a major amount of work to both identify your relatives in FamilyTree and do the finding at (roughly) the same time. Bear in mind that while you might have a sensible number of known relatives, the software has to work for someone who thinks they've got their line back to Adam. (And of course, while you might think you've got a compact set of relatives, you might not realise that someone's connected your lot to their Adam lot.)
Essentially, the software has to identify your relatives by crawling up your ancestry, then down each branch to identify your cousins and then....? Then it has to see whether any of those satisfy the find query. Or do it the other way round. Either way, conventional wisdom has it that it's just not possible while you're sitting there waiting and waiting and ...
Let me emphasise that it's not a bad request - many times I've forgotten quite who or where one relly is in the tree, so I have to look at my desktop files to identify who they're linked to and find them. It's just that the tree-crawling is so big and so different in approach from the searching that it's unlikely to be feasible for some time yet. Maybe one day...0 -
