This Ordinance Ready feature often requested, but has been turned down by FamilySearch.
The concept is for the person who wants to take names to the temple, do it under their own sign-in credentials, not that of someone else.
The system is set up to provide enough names for one ordinance session for the person who uses the feature.
Anything else and we have been advised to use the standard process from the temple page. Eventually, we will be able to "pull" any name from the temple-reserved list, just as Ordinance Ready does now. We haven't been given much more information about that feature, but at the present time, don't look for it in the next few weeks. All the temples, world-wide, are now closed due to the pandemic.

Directly from a "Knowledge Article" in "FamilySearch" about "OrdinancesReady":
Quote:
------------------
Before you start
Ordinances Ready is designed to provide family name cards for the person signed in to the website or the Family Tree app. For example, if you are female, it only searches for ancestors who are likewise female so that you can perform their ordinances. It will not search your spouse's family line.
If you are trying to print a name card for a friend or relative of the opposite sex, consider teaching that person how to use Ordinances Ready through his or her own account. Or you could request permission through Helper Resources to assist as a helper. In that case, you could use Ordinances Ready in behalf of the other person.

How do I find family names for the temple with Ordinances Ready?

As 'Tom' has already indicated "OrdinancesReady" is a quick and easy feature/function/facility to allow Member Users/Patrons who DO NOT have any individuals/persons 'on-hand' to take to a "Temple", to find them and print "Cards" for them, to take to the "Temple" for a 'ONE OFF' visit - And, is therefore specific to the "Gender" of the Member User/Patron.
"OrdinancesReady" is NOT supposed to circumvent doing proper "Family History" Work - researching your Ancestral lines and 'Finding' those for whom "Temple" Work could be undertaken.
"OrdinancesReady" is NOT a short cut to proper "Family History" Work.
Who knows, maybe the Church will decide to lift the "Gender" specific nature of "OrdinancesReady", you can only ask, as you have done.
I hope this helps; and, also helps to put things into perspective.

FamilySearch FamilyTree is a single tree covering all of mankind. It is not comprised of separate trees. We each have ancestral lines in the massive tree. There are currently over 1.2 Billion profiles in the tree.0 -
I know this post is older, but I thought you might like to know there is a way around this.
While the Ordinances Ready function doesn't work for the opposite gender, you can go into Tasks and see ancestors in you family tree that have either things that need to be updated/reviewed and also see those who have ordinances to complete. It doesn't sort by what ordinances need to be completed, but it provides you with the opportunity to find needed ordinances regardless of gender and regardless of if you put the names in yourself. You simply find the ones you want and add them to your reservations to print the cards. 😊👍

it would be helpful also when your spouse can help with temple work on either side of your family.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
Just in passing ...
And, please do not take umbrage at my response ...
I am sorry ...
Short Answer: "OrdinancesReady" is NOT be the answer ...
You are not alone ...
The desire, that we be able to "Print", the "Temple" Cards, for the opposite "Gender", from ourselves, through "OrdinancesReady", is a FEATURE that MANY (Member) Users/Patrons have yearned for and requested.
Now ...
That Said ...
We can ALREADY, "Print" the "Temple" Cards, for members of the opposite "Gender", to ourselves.
We can do that ourselves, in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch", in the "Ordinances" 'Tab', of our Ancestors.
We can (both, "Reserve"; and,) "Print", the "Temple" Cards for whichever "Gender" we desire, Male; or, Female; as, there is NO restriction.
So ...
That Said ...
What you desire is SOMETHING that "OrdinancesReady" was SPECIFICALLY designed, NOT to be able to do.
Please let me explain ...
Please be aware that the "OrdinancesReady" feature/function/facility is ONLY, really, for a quick; and, easy, process of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, when one is going to visit the "Temple", that day or the next, when one DOES NOT have ANY "Temple" Cards, 'on-hand', available.
The "OrdinancesReady" feature/function/facility is certainly NO substitute, for doing one's due diligence, well IN ADVANCE of visiting the "Temple" of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, for one's Ancestors, to have 'on-hand', available, through one's "Reservations" List; and/or, normal research.
Hence, the reason, that we ONLY get "Temple" Work, for people, of the SAME "Gender", as ourselves, is a DESIGN Feature of "OrdinancesReady".
Plus ...
As, "OrdinancesReady" is ONLY, a quick; and, easy, process of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, when one is going to visit the "Temple", that day or the next, when one DOES NOT have ANY "Temple" Cards, 'on-hand', available ...
I would humbly suggest that, your desire, may not be considered as appropriate, in view of the intended Design.
Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':
How do I find family names for the temple with Ordinances Ready?
Where it states, among other things;

Ordinances Ready finds names for you that are your [ Gender ] (that is, male names for male users and female names for female users).

Unfortunately ...
In this day and age, it appears that many Users/Patrons, consider that "OrdinancesReady" is the way to go; as, "OrdinancesReady" is such, a quick; and, easy, process.
We never had, "OrdinancesReady" up until a few Years ago.
"OrdinancesReady", is simply helpful/useful for those, that are 'caught in a bind'; when, they have a "Temple" visit scheduled (or, are notified of one, scheduled by, a Ward/Branch/Stake/District); but, unfortunately, do not have any "Temple" Cards, for their Ancestors, 'on-hand', available.
Just my thoughts.
I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I hope, this provides you with some additional, insight; and, perspective.
Whereas ...
Who is to say things will not change in the future ...
