What is the point of commenting on a topic, as most people will never know it has been made.
It would appear that the ability to sort by Recent only applies to the date of the first post in a topic. It does NOT apply to comments that are made to posts, so you are unable to read what has been said recently in topics generally.
I added a further comment to a post I had previously made. Do FamilySearch employees monitor further comments whether they be made by me, or anyone else, and if so, how do they (or anyone else) know that a comment has been added.
There appears no way for the topic to rise to the "top of the list", even by selecting Recent, and there is no email notification, as there was on GetSatisfaction.
As this Forum is headed Ideas, presumably the purpose is to present these to FamilySearch employees, but do employees get to see comments subsequently made.

Supposedly, this is a temporary forum until a fully functional system can be developed, tested, and pushed to production. At least that is what I saw in comments from a FS representative on one of the threads in GetSat.

FYI

In regard to "... there is no email notification, as there was on GetSatisfaction. ..."
.
I raised that matter, in a recent post, in this new forum; and, I got the following response, in a "Comment", to my post, form an "Official 'FamilySearch' Represenative"...

Brett, the ideas does not have notification by email of when something was posted. Please note that this is a temporary place for the ideas system until we move the community to a new platform. As a result we have not been able to implement all the features that may be desired.

it doesnt so much matter - that a lot of people see the post
what matters - is if THE RIGHT person sees the post - that can make a correction or adjustment to the system - as a result of the feedback.
(the right person being a FS engineer/manager/develper)

Yup. For example, unless you go through some significant permutations going away back in the history of the list and re-checking all of the replies to each topic, no one will ever see this comment that I am making here!

Or this comment here.

Or even this comment here.

Ok. So Recent Comments sorting WILL pull these up now, but you can't see recent comments and recent postings at the same time like you can in most other technical forums (including community.familysearch.org, and the old Getsatisfaction.com/familysearch).
