"Mobile" Application
Initial 'Messages' after accessing
==========
FIRST
-----------------
Location Permission
Needed
A prompt will appears, asking
for permission to get your
location. Enabling location
permissions will allow you
to see if relatives are near
you, to map distances to
ancestors' life events, and to
be notified when you are at a
FmilySearch special event.
OK
==========
SECOND
-----------------
['Map' "Pin"]
Allow Family Tree to access this
device's location?
Allow all the time
Allow only while using the app
Deny & don't ask again
==========
Please ADD an additional "Option" to SIMPLY "Deny", enabling the 'Message' to reoccur each time (WITHOUT the 'Rider' of "... & don't ask again"), if one desires.
I will no longer attempt to use the "Mobile" Application until an additional "Option" is available after accessing the application.
I am quite happy to "Deny" access to my 'Device's' "Location", each time I access the "Mobile" Application".
But ...
That said ...
I DO NOT want to use the "Options" of:
(1) "Allow all the time"; or,
(2) "Allow only while using the app"; or,
(3) "Deny & don't ask again"
I want an "Option" that is in-between (2) and (3) which is SIMPLY "Deny" - WITHOUT the 'Rider' of "... & don't ask again".
'Thank You' in advance.

I have just upgraded the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch" on my 'Mobile' Phone; where, that upgrade for the "Mobile" Application NOW includes the ability to "Added" an "Unconnected Person" to "Family Tree" through "Recents" (as already existed in the "Web" version of "FamilySearch"), that upgrade is great.
Unfortunately, when I go to access the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch" on my 'Mobile' Phone, there is "Still" NO 'Option' to SIMPLY "Deny", enabling the 'Message' to reoccur each time (WITHOUT the 'Rider' of "... & don't ask again"), if one desires.
As, I will NO LONGER attempt to use the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch" on my 'Mobile' Phone until such an additional 'Option' is available, I CANNOT utilise the 'Feedback' capability directly available in the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch".
As, there has been NO:
(1) additional 'Option' to SIMPLY "Deny", enabling the 'Message' to reoccur each time (WITHOUT the 'Rider' of "... & don't ask again"); and/or,
(2) acknowledgement or response from an "Official 'FamilySearch' Representative" to this post,
I am unaware if the "Designers" and "Developers" of the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch", either, are; or, have been made, aware of this suggested enhancement/request, of mine.
Therefore, with respect, could someone from "FamilySearch" ( monitoring this Forum ) please ensure that the "Designers" and "Developers" of the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch" are made aware of this suggested enhancement/request of an additional 'Option' to SIMPLY "Deny", enabling the 'Message' to reoccur each time (WITHOUT the 'Rider' of "... & don't ask again"), if one desires. [ Of course, that may already have been done; but, I am unaware; and, there is no indication, of such. ]
'Thank You' in advance.

I think, but do not know for sure, that the three options are built into the OS of the mobile device. You might want to do some research in that area to see if that is the case.
Again, I could be incorrect on that, but my experience with my iPad has always given me only the three options.0 -

I take onboard what you thorough.
I just do not like that 'Rider' of "... & don't ask again ...".
As I advised in the original post, I am quite happy to "Deny" access to my 'Device's' "Location", each time I access the "Mobile" Application".
If that cannot happen, I suppose I will not being using the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch" again - Sad; but, NO great loss - I only ever used it for "Show and Tell"; and, confirm that the 'Completed' Work was 'Processed', when leaving the Temple - NOT the REAL Work.

joe martel said: Brett, are you on android or iphone?
I just upgraded and I have not sure how to see what you are referring to. On iPhone I have Location Services under Privacy set to Never like Tom says. I don't get any pop up banners when starting or using the app (after I dismissed the new getting started banner). I have Messages in my ... Messages box including Conversations and Discoveries. If you can provide a succinct description maybe someone here can help you.0 -

I am sorry for the delay.
I had not tired a 'Screen Shot' with my 'Mobile' Phone before, so I had to learn.
I am using an "Android" 'Mobile' Phone.
After a previous upgrade, of the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch", a month ago, I first saw these two (x2) screens, in this order; but, refused to go any further.
I select the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch".
And, get the following "Pop-Up" ("Modal") 'Windows':
First this:
Where the only option (thing that can be done) is to select "OK".
Then this:
Where I go no further; and, just "Abort" the attempt/process altogether
Hence, this post of mine from a Month ago.
Which I was hoping would be passed onto the "Designers" and "Developers" of the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch".
If this has something to do with the "Operating System" of my ("Android") 'Mobile' Phone; then, any advice on how I can address/fix that would be greatly appreciated.
With the previous version of the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch", I was quite happy to "Deny" access to my 'Device's' "Location", each time I accessed the "Mobile" Application", too bad I cannot do this with the later versions.
The option to "... Deny & don't ask again .." is just overkill as far as I am concerned; but, for some quite acceptable. I am looking for a more 'middle ground'.
I have not used the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch" for over a Month now.

The current version of the "Mobile" Application version of "FamilySearch", that I upgraded to the other day, is 3.4.4; BUT, this problem/issue started when I upgraded to the version of just over a Month ago.

Tom Huber said: Well, I don't like using a mobile device, even though my iPad can be turned, the screen is still too narrow for the font size to display everything like my desktop display can. Plus, I like to use a dual-monitor setup and I cannot do that with my iPad.0

Minutes ago, this afternoon, I just uploaded the newest version of the "Mobile" Application version of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" (version: 3.5.0), it just keeps getting worse ...
This is now what first appears when I attempt to access the "Mobile" Application version of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch":
I do not need such, I should not have to, either, see; and/or, dismiss such ...
And, now I am even further away from trying to access the "Mobile" Application version of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" than I was before ...
I certainly hope that the "Web" version of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" is NOT going to follow the same route with regards to format or display as the "Mobile" version; but, unfortunately, it appears it is and it will ...
Brett
ps: By the way, the problem/issue as raised in this post STILL remains.

G'Day
Sorry for the delay in my response.
ANZAC Day, the 25th of April, here "Down Under".
We could not 'Congregate' for the FIRST time in over 100 Years; but, we could "Commemorate" by Standing at the end of our "Driveways" at home where we live, with "Candles" lit, at "Dawn", to honour those who Served; but, especially, those that gave the ULTIMATE Sacrifice ...
I am sorry, a very SPECIAL Day down here in Australia and New Zealand.
Now ...
That said ...
'No', I did not, I went no further; and, just "Aborted" the attempt/process altogether.
Whereas ...
It looks like is does not matter whether or not you select that "Don't Show Again" 'Button'; as, when I tried to access the "Mobile" Application version of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" (version: 3.5.0) again (after going no further and aborting the attempt/process altogether), that NEW "Banner" (for want of a better term) was NOT there.
And, despite that, the problem/issue as raised in this post STILL remains.

I am sorry to say that that is NOT in fact the case.
As I indicated, I went no further; and, just "Aborted" the attempt/process altogether; now, even after a "Restart" on my "Mobile" Phone, I DO NOT get that latest "Banner".

joe martel said: You have to click on the button. When you click the button, it informs the database you've seen it, so it won't show it to you again. If you abort (almost all programs) no action is sent to the server. I0

Well, I am telling you that such action WAS taken (by the "System') when I went no further; and, just "Aborted" the attempt/process altogether.
When I NOW attempt to access the "Mobile" Application version of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" (version: 3.5.0) again and again (after going no further and aborting the attempt/process altogether), that NEW "Banner" (for want of a better term) is NOT there - I NEVER even accessed (ie. touched/selected) that "Don't Show Again" 'Button', nothing.
