I could understand an exception if it the first suggestion matched the date introduced, but now, it is messy.

Paul said: Here's another example. Scrolling through the list of options for choosing the "correct York" illustrates the problem even better than this screenshot. Seemingly, the options are presented completely randomly.
(BTW - how did "Toronto, Ontario, Canada" get on the shortlist of York alternatives?!)

Adrian Bruce said: Oh Paul - where's your Pub Quiz expertise? Admitted it helps if you have rellies who've gone to that area, but "York" is a previous name of Toronto, so is presumably an alternative name of Toronto.
See Wikipedia: "York was incorporated as the City of Toronto on March 6, 1834"0 -
Paul said: The shame is, I do have relatives there! I'd have been okay with New Amsterdam coming up after inputting New York (it doesn't, by the way - only vice versa), but didn't have a clue about the York / Toronto connection! My pub quiz expertise is confined (narrowly) to other topics.

Tom Huber said: There are a number of standardized places that do not have effectivity dates associated with them. Until all standardized places have applicable dates in place, I think we'll continue to see this problem above.0

m said: I consistently see people writing "big city, NM" but then the pin is on someplace in Peru, Spain, Venezuela. So somehow when people use the drop down menu they mis-select for the main cities. Hopefully, with dates sorting in order, this will help.0
