What exactly is the intended method of navigation for this Ideas forum?

Unlike the rest of the FS Community forum (and GetSatisfaction), I cannot open threads here in a new tab; I can only click one, read it, and then click Back on my browser -- which puts me back at the very top of the list. This works if I'm reading the most recent three or four topics, although there's a lot to keep track of, since there's no mechanism for marking things as "already read". It utterly fails if I'm anywhere further down the list, because I have to scroll down, find the next unread thread, and open it. I have to keep re-doing and re-doing the same actions, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. (Yes, it really is like that.)

Is something broken in my browser (Firefox latest, Win10)? How did the designers intend for people to navigate this forum? Or did they utterly fail to consider actual use?

Julia, there are a couple of methods of filtering and sorting. You can sort by popular or recent by choosing that option at the top left corner. In the left column, you can also filter by Category or Status. A check in a checkbox will show only the items you have checked. Clicking on Show All at the bottom reverts back to showing all the information. Play around with that and let us know what else you think we might add to improve the experience.

Mark, all of that just plays around with the list of post titles. It doesn't actually provide any content. And all of it goes away as soon as I choose something to actually read. See above about over and over and over and over and over and over again.

It's like you've set up a library that's only willing to give out one page of a newspaper or magazine at a time. It doesn't matter how many different ways I can sort the table of contents if what I want to do is read the dratted magazine!

This issue exists all across the FS communities and not just the new "Ideas" area. When you are walking down the list of postings and you find something 5 pages down that you want to reply to, after you reply it doesn't always bring you back to where you were and you have to start over walking down the list. Julie's issue is slightly different but it's the same problem. When looking through lists, if you vector off for a moment, you can't get back to where you started from.

And since the comments window here is modal, it blocks you from seeing all of the discussion that you are replying to. The only good news is that because you CAN'T vector off for the comments here, there's not as much of a chance in losing everything that you had previously entered, the way it works in the other FS Community groups

Another aspect where this Ideas section is even worse than the regular Communities (which is saying something!!): I just noticed that I made a typo in my title (it's supposed to be _intended_), and I CAN'T FIX IT.

    GRRR.

Interesting. I just did this on another post (i.e., altered the title) and I got away with it. Do you not have an "Edit" entry in the pull-down menu for you original post?

Oops, just noticed that I don't have the Edit function after I get responses. I thought I was able to do that, but I guess not.

Heh. A year late, but not quite a dollar short: I can now edit my old post, and have fixed the typo in the title.

FS does eventually get there, mostly, but it takes a whole lot of pushing and prodding.
