Tagging Marriage Source Info to Marriage Event

Daniel J. Rathka said: I have marriage information for a couple. I have a marriage source attached. But I am not able to "tag" the marriage source to the marriage event but I am able to "tag" it to:
Name
Sex
Birth
Christening
Death
Burial
It would be very useful and helpful to be able to tag marriage source records to the event. Usually this is accomplished when attaching the record to individuals but that got missed somehow and now I am not able to tag it.

Tom Huber said: The couple section is not part of an individual's record, so a marriage cannot be tagged. Until a few months ago, the source-linker would not even place a marriage source into the couple section.
Today, it does and as such, becomes part of the marriage information. It does not need to be tagged because the source now also appears in the couple section. The action does not take place until the second person (spouse) has the marriage source attached via the source linker.0 -

Tom Huber said: As I said in my first response, the couple section is not part of an individual's record.
Currently, to add the source to the couple's record, you will have to add the source to your source box and then go into the couple relationship area and add the source from your source box to the source section.
That is the only way, within the FamilySerach structure, that a source that exists for an individual can be added to the couple relationship area. Tagging has not been implemented, even for sources that appear in the couple relationship area.
I can and have attached sources to a couple relationship area from my local database through the fully certified family tree program that I use locally. I believe all of the major family tree management programs have this ability.
Regardless, many of us have added our thoughts about needing to have the couple relationship area expanded to include additional events.0 -
brentsweeny said: the other way using currently-available functions in FS to attach a source to a couple relationship if it didn't get done for one reason or another (as Tom notes, marriage sources attached in FS now (usually) get attached to the couple relationship; however there are other ways of adding sources, for instance ones attached manually or by copying from Ancestry, that don't result in that couple-tagging so a means needs to exist to make that attachment), you can do it this way: the source probably got added to your 'source box', that unwieldy (another subject) mixed bag of every source you've ever attached to anyone, all mixed up together (and unsearchable, sigh).
1. go to the couple relationship
2. click on "add source"
3. select "add from source box"
4. then find that marriage source in your source box and 'attach' it, and it'll show up as a source for the couple
this is an extremely clunky process, but it is possible and works.0 -
It needs to be possible to attach an Existing source to the marriage event! How aggravating to have to add an existing source to my source box so i can attach it. so Clucky! [aggravated in so. ILL.]
