In helping to do my husband's work, I see a lot of individuals who's work is inaccessible (can not request or do the work) as someone has requested or printed the cards but not proceeded with the work requested, or some ordinances have not been done in years. The change I am requesting is that prompts be put into the programming to prompt when requesting, printing cards, or signing in to the program that they have cards reserved but not printed, printed but not done, reminding them that requesting or printing cards ties up the work so noone else can do it. If people try the program out, and request a card, or print a card and do not really mean to do it or years pass with no action then prompting that the names will be released for others to do if they do not go back and unrequest the names will help, as well as an email reminding or informing them that names they requested need to be unrequested or completed, with prompts on how to unrequest names and release them to others. If the user does not log in or respond to the prompts, then the names should be released sooner, so they don't sit for more than a year with nothing done, or sit for years with only a couple of the ordinances done, unavailable to others to finish up the work and sure up the family line. Thank you

Tom Huber said: The current system in place allows anyone to reserve temple shared names (for 90 days) and then perform the vicarious ordinances for that person. The 90-day period is a sliding date and will become fixed once the temples reach stages 3 and 4 in reopening. See https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist....
You can "unshare" and temple-shared names you reserved and shared, and then unreserve them.
For temple-shared ordinances: Open your Shared list (https://www.familysearch.org/temple/s...) and click on the check box for any person you want to unshare, which will move the name to your "My Reservations page.
-or-
After you click on the name on your Shared list, you can click on the unreserve link.
For those names that are on your My Reservations page, Check the name of the person and then click on "Unreserve".0 -
Lynne Stanley said: A prompt would be nice to remind a reservation holder that the reservation time is about up. However, I thought that printed or not printed, if the ordinances were not completed by the expiration date, the reservation would be cancelled and the ordinances would automatically become available again.
Also, if the cards are not printed, it is possible to contact the reservation holder and requested that he/she share the reservation with you.0 -
Tom Huber said: The current pandemic has created an unusual situation, so expirations are not static, but moving out as time advances.
That said a printed card does not expire and can be used even after the reservation expires.
However, a user should always check to make sure that the vicarious ordinance has not been performed.
It is a good idea to print the ordinance cards just prior to attending the temple.0 -

Tom Huber said: How recently? Did you reserve them before the temples shut down?0

Cindy Hecker said: I received them before the temples shut down, I remember last fall seeing the notice that the reservation was expiring soon. Nothing during this time temples have not been fully open0

Tom Huber said: Okay that makes sense. At the present time, no reservations will expire as long as the temples remain closed for proxy ordinances.
Once a temple reaches stage 4 (resumes normal operation), I suspect the dates will no longer move.
That may happen with stage 3 (proxy by appointment), but I really don't know.0
