Add missing city field for Indexing of record transcriptions from other cities

Angelo Longo said: I've recently begun to index an Italian death records volume. As every similar volume, the one I'm indexing contains transcriptions of records from other cities as an appendix. This is done because the city in which people die send a copy of the records to the cities where they were born, and there those records are copied at the end of local death records volume.
My batch begins with one of those transcription, so I was quite doubtful if I have to index it because I can't see any “City of Death” field. No one will ever know where one person in the indexed record is really dead unless the original document is displayed (and the calligraphy thereon deciphered)! That will happen because the only town that will appear in the data is that of birth.
Then I decided to send a message to the support asking for help and I was answered that I have to index even record transcriptions from other cities (Problem 07352871). So my suggestion is obviously to add a “City of Death” field, because this is a vital information that will be missing for all persons transcribed records appendices subject to Indexing!

All deaths registered in a certain place will have the place of death automatically added to be the same as the registration place.
Obviously, deaths that occurred elsewhere will have the wrong place of death if this is how FS is doing it.0 -

If the images will be linked with the index and freely available, then the best you can do is to index all of the names as accurately as possible. Hopefully the associated place (added in post-processing) will be accurately labeled as the place of death _registration_, not the place of death, and users of the index will hopefully always check the image.0

The images will be freely available and I hope users will check them, but I think that it would be much better if indexers could add the place of death themselves, especially if in every Italian death and marriage records volume there are transcription from other cities.0 -

In fairness, unpredictable stuff does pop up. The mark of a good indexing project is (a) recognising the odd stuff and (b) changing practice part-way through to deal with it.0
