Location search limit request for ancestors

Given the millions of records in the Historical Records collection and the 1.2 million (at last count) of record in FamilyTree, I do not see any way to connect the two databases in a single search.
What does exist is an icon that indicates that the historical record has been attached to one or more persons' records in the tree. It appears as this icon
Aside from that, you would have to discount that many sources have different spellings, but still apply to the person for whom you are performing a search in the historical records.
On top of that, there could be transcription errors, because you are not searching the actual records, but the indexes of those records.0 -
Tom Huber said: There are ways to limit the results of your search.
First, if you want a specific place in your results, you will have to use one or more filters to narrow the results.
The first is to narrow the results by collection. You can select a number of collections for the search results to use. This is done from your search results page by clicking on Collections at the top of the search results and then selecting the collections you want the system to use.
Next, if you are looking for a specific person in the results, enter their name in the left panel. Since spelling varies over time, you can use a wildcard to help. You should probably refer to The Family History Guide (a FamilySearch-approved training guide) https://thefhguide.com/ and the discover section under FamilySearch.0 -

Juli said: Thomas, I really don't understand your question. As phrased, my reaction is: how on Earth would the system know which ones are your ancestors or relatives? I mean, really, do you expect your genealogy to already be done somewhere and all you need to do is somehow get FamilySearch to serve it up to you, magically complete?
Please explain what it is that you're actually asking for.0 -
I think what he may be asking is what I have been wanting for years. If I am traveling to a location it would be great to be able to search my own tree for that country or state to see if I have any ancestors from there. For example; I am traveling to Wales this summer and remember hearing I had relatives there from an older relative, who has since passed away. I cannot find the record of Wales, so it may be wrong. I may also be missing it in searching manually. It may not be possible but it would be a wonderful addition.

@Amy Louise Russell for your trip to Wales, you may find this feature of FamilySearch helpful: https://www.familysearch.org/discovery/explore/generations
It shows you eight generations of where your family lived:
