add a "burial" option of cremated so burial is correctly blank or says "cremated"

if the word "cremated" is put in either burial date or place, you get an error (problem) message on the descendancy view (red explanation) which is unsightly
If the ashes are spread, the location of that could be put as the location for the final ashes of the person (as if it were a burial place)

Another item along this same line:
I'll put this in another suggestion, but the marriage has the same problem. There ought to be an option for "not married". For example, a person may have been married and with another person had a child out of wedlock with another person. That second event created a child but there was never a marriage event. The option of common law marriage is not applicable since it entails persons living together for an extended time period (ususally 7 or 10 years). If the marriage is left blank, then another patron will waste ltheir time looking for the marriage event.

Your suggestions have both been discussed extensively on this forum during the past couple of weeks. It would be of benefit to you if you tried to visit here more regularly to read the arguments that have been raised both for and against your proposals.0 -
Ronnie Duarte said: Like Deney Pugmire (top post 2 years ago), I too just came upon the same problem regarding no actual option for a cremation vs burial of my father in Family Search.
An Internet search brought me to this 2 year old thread that has no solution. I'll continue to ignore the red 'system generated' exclamation point that determines that the word "cremated" is unsatisfactory in the field labeled: place of burial. My father requested his ashes be scattered in four places in 2 states- so not meaningful to list' a single place as though by default he was buried in a grave site.
I'm not looking for pro/con arguments; just looking to know if there is a solution or not.0 -
Juli said: Ronnie, the solution is very simple: just leave the burial fields blank. That'll both get rid of the error flag and correctly reflect reality (he wasn't buried). Under Other Information, you can enter a Cremation event, with the location of the crematory (funeral home). You can also add custom events or facts for the four locations where his ashes were scattered. (The difference between "event" and "fact" is that the former has a date associated with it, the latter does not. I'd use "event" if at all possible, so that they'll show up on the timeline and map.)0
