Merge Persons Page - excess margins, bad layout

Ronald Tilby said: On the current production (17 Feb 2020) FSFT Merge Persons page, the margins are too wide, causing the header to be stacked instead of parallel and text in the header is overwriting other text. Also, text in the Reason Statement area is overflowing the box and some text is not displayed.
I observed this problem in Firefox and Chrome browsers on my Windows 10 machine.
See the attached screen dump.

Lyle Toronto said: Yes, This is one of the oldest pages on the site. It isn't friendly to smaller sizes.
Here is a screen shot of the new merge experience that is being tested on beta.
Check it out and see if it works a little better.

Tom Huber said: Way back... Several Monitor manufacturers provided the option to rotate their monitor 90 degrees, to produce a Portrait "look", which, in looking more closely at the example posted by Ronald, has that appearance.
With today's "landscape" only monitors, it looks like Ronald shrunk the width in order to accommodate a side-by-side usefulness, wherein two windows could display material from two different sites (or two different pages from the same site).
There is nothing wrong with shrinking the width to provide the side-by-side use of two different windows, but with FamilySearch, it severely impacts the site's appearance and we get the use of more "mobile" icons, which causes problems.
My preference is to use two windows side-by-side and while spending the winter out on the Washington Coast (vs northwest of Chicago), I have missed my typical setup of dual monitors, so I appreciate the frustration that Ronald is feeling with the appearance.
The only options is to do something that I cannot use -- reduce the screen presentation, which reduces all the elements. My eyes are in need of some serious help with small screen fonts and so I have used the Ctrl-plus (+) to enlarge the displayed page in my browser.
One thing that needs some serious help is having the two persons' names stacked one above the other. Which one belongs to which column of information? I would think that the upper would belong with the left column and the lower (which is a wrapped field) belongs to the right column...
Anyway, I hope that FS developers can take a look at what is going on here and avoid this problem when the roll the new merge screen to production (or better yet, apply a fix to the user interface until the new screen is rolled to production).0
