Opt out for Discovery Messages on website

It is extremely annoying to be on the website and see there is a message and think it may be a response to a sent message only to find it's a birthday reminder or some other so called Discovery. FamilySearch is not my main tree and I usually already know the "discovery".

Firstly, "Welcome" to this "FamilySearch" ( "GetStaisfaction" ) 'Feedback' Forum.
Secondly, "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives", do monitor; and, sometimes, participate in, this Forum.
Thirdly, I am just another User/Patron, just like yourself (and, happen to be a Member of the Church).
Many Users/Patrons who regularly participate in this Forum who have a great deal of knowledge and experience with "FamilySearch", like to assist/help other Users/Patrons like yourself.
Finally, you are not alone.
FYI
Here are just a few of the more recent post on the matter ...

I have come to downright _hate_ the so-called Discovery messages. Not just dislike, but actively _hate_.
Can they PLEASE JUST GO AWAY FOREVER AND EVER?0 -
Cindy Hecker said: I just heard in a Temple and Family History consultant meeting yesterday how helpful those discovery emails are and made someone want to learn and research more. So people do feel differently than you. I believe you can stop email notification for them but if you are referring to the number you see by messages and then going to find it is only a discovery I would just ignore and move on. It is not hurting you and it might help someone else.0

Juli said: It _is_ hurting me: it's using my valuable time to check notifications about utterly useless junk.
Yes, utterly useless and total junk. In nearly eight years of using FS, I have never -- even once! -- been notified of anything useful in those ad campaigns. Everything has been either irrelevant/wrong or already known/attached.

Juli said: If other people sometimes find the spam to be of interest, that's fine: they could continue to be pestered with it, with my good wishes. I just wish that _I_ could opt out completely: no emails _and_ no notifications in Messages.0

geneakit said: Cindy I'm fine with other people getting them.
I just resent the time wasted checking and deleting unwanted messages.
Why is it so awful to want to opt out as you can opt out of email messages?0 -
Paul said: Surely someone has an answer to this question? I have never received any Discovery messages, but have no idea what I did to opt-out. The only messages I receive relate to weekly changes to individuals on my watch list, updates / additions to the FamilySearch collections and those about other FS events and developments. I assume there must be a way of specifically removing Discovery messages from our notifications list and am very surprised nobody seems able to help here.0

Paul said: Sorry Brett, Tom, et al - I now see you have posted your responses in other threads. However, I still don't see how Juli gets them and I don't - unless I opted-out (unknowingly) before this option became of no practical use.0
