Tom Huber said: First, welcome to the community support forum for FamilySearch. FamilySearch personnel read every discussion thread and may or may not respond as their time permits. We all share an active interest in using the resources of this site and as users, we have various levels of knowledge and experience and do our best to help each other with concerns, issues, and/or questions.
Prior to being able to correct indexes (which is being expanded to include more records), if you are adding a source to the person's record, you can edit the source once it is attached. If the original record image has an error, one of the corrections you can make (when it becomes available) is to indicate the correct spelling, but keep in mind that consistent spelling of a person's name didn't really occur until it was forced on the population by some kind of mandate (such as the U.S. Social Security Registration). In addition, many people did not know how to read or write and in many cases, the person making the record wrote what they heard.0 -

To answer your question, there are certain types of our records that don't allow editing at this time. We are working on making them editable, but it will take a bit of time. Please be patient as we are doing our best to assist you. Thanks so much for your inquiry and for indexing! We appreciate the work you do!0 -

From your "Reply" in this post, you possibly appear to be part of the Personnel of "FamilySearch".
If such IS the case, can you please have something like ("FamilySearch") "Employee" or "Personnel", appended to your name; so that, we can distinguish between us 'lowly' Users/Patrons and ("FamilySearch") "Employees" or "Personnel", in these posts.
An added advantage is that you would appear in the "OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES" participating in a post; so that, we know, with certainty, that you are ("FamilySearch") "Employee" or "Personnel".
Just my thoughts.
