Mike Cockerill said: Main problem for me is the arrow display and associated help text on tree view, particularly 'expand tree' and 'children'. Arrow display for children of any couple box needs to be permanent on tree, not visible just on mousing over : mousing text could be strong contrast mini window.0

David John Bjelde said: The colors under the Temple Ordinance tab need to be changed back to newfamilysearch colors. The familytree colors are off and hard to differentiate by people slightly color blind (males)0

Cindy Price said: I agree the pages are difficult to read and causes eye strain. Please change the colors. There needs to be contrast. Gray should be totally out, not enough contrast.0

Chas Howell said: There is a lot of white on these screens. Together light blue and white are low contrast colors. The light blue printing is more difficult to read than it needs to be. How about a high contrast color like black or maybe a blue/black?0

marilee clark said: The light color is very difficult to read. The format is just as difficult to read, because of all the scrolling down that must be done--but the color adds to the difficulty.0

Priscilla Ann Cain said: I am having difficultly reading the blue lettering. It is going to be difficult for the older folks like me to adjust to a totally different screen from the New Family Search. I like many of the features like being able to change relationships and making changes in my tree.0

Stephen Jorgensen Kelsey said: The colors of gray and darker black are depressing. We use to have the red and green which birghtened things up for a lighter mood. I hate the new colors...Why did you have to change???0

The nine colors were reduced to four: Green (available to reserve and perform vicarious ordinances, blue (now dark blue to distinguish it from the light blue used for hints -- in process), Orange (one or more issues need to be resolved), and gray (completed).
There have been many discussions about this, but Jim Greene provides some of the best answers from within the Church and the associated departments (Temple Department, and Family History Department). The decisions were made in a council led by Elder Bednar -- two other members of the Quorum of the Twelve were also on the same council. Once the decisions were in place after much consideration and prayer, FamilySearch development teams were involved in putting the decisions into place.
Several issues have surfaced and those have been reported and passed back up the line. One change was made in that the blue used initially for in process was darkened because of its similarity to the blue used for hints.
Jim Greene's two major posts are in the https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea... discussion from June 12th, 2020, and the https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea... discussion from the weekend of June 13th-14th, 2020.
He stated in another discussionWe are no longer in a position where names submitted to the temple is more important than to have the ordinances performed. Therefore, while not changing the meaning we are changing the emphasis of the green temple. We need to think of it as "This ordinance is available for temple work to be performed." It does not mean "This ordinance is ready to be requested/reserved or submitted/shared with the temple." (This clarified statement was made by Jim Greene on June 17th.)
The modified statement about the emphasis being changed appeared in the https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea... discussion on June 17th.0 -

Tom Huber said: The light blue was far too close to the blue hint icon.
I agree that it is a little too dark and should probably be lightened somewhat, but not too close to the blue hint icon.0
