Richard Otter said: I'd like to have all of a person's names displayed in one place, presumably at the top of the page.

I'd also like to be able to change which of them is the "primary" name for the person by using a check box available in the edit window.

Tom Huber said: Yes, that would be nice to have, but a person's profile is not organized in a manner to support that.

The vitals section has one name entry: it should be the birth name of the individual.

Any suffix, like Sr, and "I", meaning the first to use those given names, wherein following generations also used the same given names, should not be entered. The reason is that there was no way to know if the person would reach maturity, marry and have children at that time of their birth (and naming).

All other names the person used during their lifetime are entered as alternative names and appear in the other section.

The follows most genealogical practices of recording the birth name and then as alternatives, the other names the person used, such as nicknames, and AKA (Also Known As). Women can become known by their married name when it is included in legal documents.
