MULTIPLE BUGS in Photo attachment (Memories) - UI and tag deletion, multiple refresh issues

Justin Masters said: I attempted to attach a memory to Gussie Givens Meredith (GQ7B-PFG), which was a family photo.
When I uploaded the photo, it shows her already tagged, but when you float over her name under "Click the image to tag people" portion, the entire photo shows a boundary, presuming she's the only one listed, and the tag boundary covering over all the people in the photo.
When I try to DELETE that tag, I'm unable to....
When I try to tag Gussie in the photo, and type in and select the name, it DOES NOT appear in the tagged people portion (where it says "Click the image to tag people").
When I FORCE A REFRESH of the page, I see two names now in the tagged people portion, but one no longer appears to highlight anything/anybody (which is probably the tag I tried to delete earlier), but the name is still there.
The other name now reflects the tag I just attached for Gussie.
So there are multiple UI issues here...
1- The entire photo is assumed to be the person, and is tagged for the person,
2 - The tagged people portion is not being refreshed after attempting to delete the tag which covers the entire photo,
3 - Tagging a person doesn't have them show up in the tagged people section (again not being refreshed)
4 - Refreshing the page reflects stale tagged names, without a tag.
I'm going to continue tagging people as I can in this photo.
(Coming back on the adding a new tag for Gussie's mother (seated))
5 - I go to tag Amanda (seated) and the name on the tag defaults to Gussie, and I can't seem to change it. (If I try to tag another person in the photo, it appears to let me type in a name for that person).
It appears that the attachment of the second tag after the inital deleted tag and assignment of a subsequent tag, leaves a "hole" that MUST be filled, and a subsequent tag is paired to that "hole" (forced to be the name of the person whose PID is where I'm attaching the photo.
(simpler?
- uploaded memory,
- go to assign tags for Gussie and find one for Gussie already covering the entire photo.
- Try to delete that tag (it's a group photo), but name doesn't disappear.
- I try to tag Gussie in the photo (far left rear, standing), and it lets me assign it to her.
- When I try to assign her mother (seated), it FORCES a tag for Gussie on her.
- After the new tag is set (I now have two Gussie tags - One on herself, and one on her mother),
- I can try to tag another person, and am given the option to type in a name.)
At this point, I'm going to leave it alone so the developers can see what's going on.

Howard Norman Camp said: I agree this is a big problem and more work is needed to fix it. I also would like to see the option to allow the highlight circle to encompass more than just inside the frame of the photo so that the default portrait could have the head centered inside the circle.0

Donna Mayme Snelling said: I had the same problem yesterday and found if you wait until the photo is processed you can tag the person. The old way worked better as often I am working on several different people and it will be easy to forget to return to the person to tag the processed document/photo.0

JT said: I too got way frustrated with the apparent changes to the Memories Tagging UI that happened recently.
I usually upload a photo directly to a person's Memories (rather than to my gallery first), which is why that person has always been (and still is) automatically tagged. Then I usually "Edit" the tag by shrinking that big white square down to the person's face, so it doesn't keep complaining that I haven't tagged anybody yet.
But yesterday as I moved my Windows 10 Chrome laptop mouse from the Edit button to a corner of the big white square, the big white square disappeared !!
And the big white square has no green dot in the lower right corner anymore!!
For example, see https://www.familysearch.org/tree/per... (familysearch.org/tree/person/memories/KWHS-QPW#modal)
- Very frustrating. Please restore to last week's UI library.0 -
JT said: But today it seems to be working a bit better. Now the square doesn't disappear, and the green dot is now showing up. But the mouse dragging seems to keep moving the outline square a bit more, even after the mouse stops moving.
What's nice about this UI update, is that it doesn't complain anymore about not being tagged because of the automatic tagging still happening when uploading directly to a person's memories.0 -
Beth Ann Wiseman said: The tagging issues from the memories tab have been addressed. Tagging should work the same way it did before we made the change a week ago.
When you add a photo from the memories tab and then view the photo, you should see a prompt to click the image to tag the person.
You should then be able to click the image and create a new tag.
Any tags you add or edit should be saved.
Thanks for your feedback, and please post back with steps to reproduce if your issue is not fixed.0 -
Justin Masters said: Nope, not seeing some of the fixes... I see a name tagged, but no box when I hover over the picture. (I'm working on this one: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/per... )
The only time I see a box is when I hover over the name in the upper right.... and I don't see any kind of a resize handle either.
Yes, I can click the picture and get the resizeable box, but now I have TWO tags in the upper right corner.0 -
