Viewing sources while attaching hints

Regardless of whether an image accompanies the index that deals with the hint, it would be nice to be able to open that indexed record, which then, if available, could be used to view an available image.

And that exists now. When you click on a hint, you see only part of the index entry:


Slide the scroll control down to see the rest of the information for that index entry, including the image which you can then open in a new tab with a right-click of your mouse control.

Sometimes I can view the image, (for example a census record). But when I click on the image, I lose the screen wherein I can attach the record. It would be nice to be able to right click when I want to view the image.

It is a matter of mouse control, more than anything else. When wanting to view any image (that is displayed in the flyout, always right-click. Unless FS changes things, that should always work. The flyout may disappear in the process, but you can easily click on the research help to bring it back.

If I understand correctly, you are starting here:



Then clicking Review and Attach to come here where you can click on Record:



Which opens a window on top of the Source Linker window. However, in the upper right corner you can click on "Open in a New Window":



Which circles back to this view where you can click on the image:



to see it:



Note that at the top I now have five open tabs. While this seems a bit involved and to be going in circles, once you get used to this, it is now easy to switch between these five tabs (one of which is a duplicate) at will and alternate between these four views:

I have so many tabs already open on FamilySearch, that I hate to open too many more. I just thought that a right click and open in another tab would be a short cut. But maybe that is hard to program. I don't know anything about that part of the story.

This was just a suggestion.

I know what you mean about tabs. Sometimes I'll look up and have two or three windows open each with a dozen or so tabs. That's when I close everything and start over!
