Viewing sources while attaching hints

Tom Huber said: What image? Many sources do not have images available for viewing, thanks to restrictions placed on them by the original record custodians or for some other reason. Some images are not on FamilySearch, but have a link that opens the record on another site, such as Find a Grave.
Regardless of whether an image accompanies the index that deals with the hint, it would be nice to be able to open that indexed record, which then, if available, could be used to view an available image.
And that exists now. When you click on a hint, you see only part of the index entry:
Slide the scroll control down to see the rest of the information for that index entry, including the image which you can then open in a new tab with a right-click of your mouse control.

Sometimes I can view the image, (for example a census record). But when I click on the image, I lose the screen wherein I can attach the record. It would be nice to be able to right click when I want to view the image.0 -
Tom Huber said: The flyout is temporary. Anytime anything is clicked outside of the flyout, it will disappear. I'm not sure why that was designed, since the flyout has a close "X" in the upper right corner of the flyout.
It is a matter of mouse control, more than anything else. When wanting to view any image (that is displayed in the flyout, always right-click. Unless FS changes things, that should always work. The flyout may disappear in the process, but you can easily click on the research help to bring it back.0 -

If I understand correctly, you are starting here:
Then clicking Review and Attach to come here where you can click on Record:
Which opens a window on top of the Source Linker window. However, in the upper right corner you can click on "Open in a New Window":
Which circles back to this view where you can click on the image:
to see it:
Note that at the top I now have five open tabs. While this seems a bit involved and to be going in circles, once you get used to this, it is now easy to switch between these five tabs (one of which is a duplicate) at will and alternate between these four views:

Alice Ament Gedge said: That perhaps takes a few more clicks of the mouse than I now take. When the image comes up, I copy it and paste it to Word, then I go back to the "Attach Historical Records to Family Tree" screen. I have two monitors on my computer, so that happens to work.
I have so many tabs already open on FamilySearch, that I hate to open too many more. I just thought that a right click and open in another tab would be a short cut. But maybe that is hard to program. I don't know anything about that part of the story.
This was just a suggestion.
Thank you for your promp replies.

Gordon Collett said: FamilySearch people do see all these, so they will take your suggestion that there must be an easier way to see both the source linker and the image at the same time and will maybe work something out.
I know what you mean about tabs. Sometimes I'll look up and have two or three windows open each with a dozen or so tabs. That's when I close everything and start over!0 -
Juli said: I shorten Gordon's process (and reduce the "tab load" at the same time) by right-clicking the image and choosing "open in new tab" right there in the Record Hints flyout in step 1. I figure I need to do that anyway to decide whether to click "review and attach" or "not a match" in the first place. If the image in the new tab looks like it's for the right person, then after clicking the blue button on the hint flyout, I have three tabs: profile, Source Linker, and image.0
