Nancy Auclair said: I have noticed in your family tree that Charles Henry Blanchard was born in 1882 in Pine Lake, NY. Actually, he was born on April 29, 1880 to Felix (Phileas) Blanchard and Jennet Mosher. Charles Henry Blanchard was my grandfather and I have done considerable research on him and his ancestors. His last name was actually Blanchette. His parents were married in Gorham, NH at the Catholic Church there. I had a great deal of difficulty finding information until my Uncle Harvey, Charles and Rose's son, put me on the right track. There is a story behind Charles Henry Blanchard who served in the Spanish American War. For more information and for the actual family tree you may contact me at: mynana330@yahoo.com.

Nancy Auclair said: Shanna, I thought I had changed the year of birth, but it didn't work. He was 18 when he served in the Spanish American War, but was several years older than my grandmother (Rose Anna Hamel) and so he 'fudged' his year of birth. Also, the city of Berlin record have his last name as Blanchard on his marriage record, but at the church where they were married, the last name is Blanchette. My mother (Marie Jeanne) always said that Papa Blanchard was born in Pine Lake, NY, but his birth was recorded in Gloversville, NY. Now, I am wondering how you are related to me - you must be related as you have done work on the Blanchard/Blanchette Family Tree, right? Thanks and have a great day, Nancy L. Shanna Jones said: I am not related, but I may have worked on the tree helping others. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/per... is the link to Charles. There is a duplicate record that needs to be merged and you can make the change to his birth and father's name and so forth. To change the birth, click the blue Edit near the Birth and make the change and select the standarized date, then click Save at the bottom. Have fun, Shanna0

If Charles Henry Blanchard was a Spanish American War veteran, you may want to get his grave listed in the National Spanish American War Veterans Gravesite Recording Project (https://www.spanamwar.com/cemetery.htm ).
