When a child is not a biological child for a parent, please indicate the relationship on the timelin
I just checked to see if the birth of a step-child shows up on the step-mother's timeline. It does, and that is fine. The problem is that there is no indication in the timeline that the relationship is not biological.
In my opinion, that is a problem. When the relationship for the birth of a child is not biological, the time line needs to indicate either the relationship, or flag the birth in some manner (with a footnote, perhaps, or with some symbol) so that the relationship is known not to be biological.

For instance, I follow three ancestral lines -- one for my father, one for my biological mother, and one for my step-mother. If I have a connection (and yes, FamilySearch will show the relationship chart) beyond my step-mother, the text of the relationship still reads as if the connection was biological.
I agree with the idea that it needs to be indicated, but I'm not sure how that could be done. In the case of the timeline, it doesn't impact anyone but close relatives of the individual (spouse(s), mother, father, brother sister, son, and daughter).0 -

I hope that FamilySearch will note this desirable feature.0 -
I don't think the step relationship is viewed in Family Tree in the right way. Examples: I list my father's second wife and show the step relationship for me with her. When I go to view my relationship when looking for names for temple ordinances I see her ancestors. They are not my ancestors. The only way I have found is to remove her relationship to my father. The other example is in the about history and the way families are grouped in the detailed family view. In my history it shows me married only to my second wife, who is deceased, and shows that we had nine children together. I am step father to her two children and she is step mother to my seven children. In details the nine children are shown. Under my third wife, only my seven children are listed and they show as step children to her. It seems that the step relationship should be coded differently so they are not the same as biological.
