The documents i search in are not indexed,so its a hell of a job to search for a name.
Why is that?

Gordon Collett said: I assume it is limitations of time, resources, and volunteers. I have no idea what percent of all the microfilms FamilySearch has are actually indexed. If one of their employee's knew and posted it there, I'm sure it would be small. I suspect that if you take any random place in the world and check in the catalog, many records from there are likely not indexed.
For example, take Sweden. Here is the catalog entry for a random parish:
There are not very many magnifying glasses, which signify the item as been digitized, there.
8 items can only be viewed on microfilm. None of them are indexed.
7 items are digitized and can be viewed on-line but are not indexed.
6 items are both digitized and indexed, but the indexing was done so long ago that the digital images are not connect to the index.0 -
jacall said: I have used this example many times to help with your question: http://link.brightcove.com/services/p... But I do agree with Gordon with his answer too. There are still MANY films that are not yet digitized. This would equal millions upon millions of records. By asking the question about Andalucia, Spain the engineers are now aware that there is interest in that area. When I looked in the Catalog in FamilySearch I did find a few of the 34 film listed that are online -- in Spanish. What records in particular are you looking for? This may help to know what records you would like to see.0

S. said: Bob the church is working on doing them, but their is a process they must go through to be abel to index and put them online, until they get done you will have to go and look at images, I know that feeling, I am waiting records from Italy, so I know that feeling. good luck. Jacall is right in one point, Hope and pray that the Spanish government lets them get online, also the faster the indexers work and the faster the arbs get them done the fast they get online.0

S. said: Bob good luck, In my humble thoughts here is an idea look up the town and contact people from here, like town records, place where people are buried, you might just have to look for other sources and places out side of family search.0

Dulce Nombre Rexach Lineros said: I, too, have great interest in records from Andalucía and would love to index them, in particular from Sevilla, Cádiz and Huelva. Are there any available at this time? (I didn’t see any as of 6/2/2020).0

Tom Huber said: List the film/DGS number of those records you want to index. If there are none, then FS does not have any to index. Note the following news release about the pandemic in Spain. https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-persp... Right now, there is no activity beyond those "necessary" in many areas of the world.0

Lynne VanWagenen said: We don't have any current indexing projects for Spain, sadly.
Are you aware of this page in our wiki: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/...
It lists records from Spain available online, whether they are on FS or another site. Ones that charge a fee are marked with ($). It also indicates whether the records are indexed.0 -
Dulce Nombre Rexach Lineros said: @ Tom Huber: Nothing shows up in the searches, so there is no way to obtain a film/DGS number. That’s why I’m asking for records.
@ Lynne VanWagenen: No, I have not come across that page before. Thanks for pointing it out!
To both: Thank you for taking the time to reply.0 -
Tom Huber said: Have you checked the catalog? That's where you go to find the film and/or DGS (indicating the digital format) numbers.
I apologize for not indicating this in my original reply.
If there are no entries in the catalog, then FamilySearch has not captured (either on film or digitally) any records.0
